There are several things wrong with this e-bay auction description:

1.) Look at rear and top of radio, notice all the corrosion on the metal case and screws?

2.) Look at the tape all over it. How's a fellow supposed to hear it well, when the speaker is all covered up in tape?

CB Microphone Types

There are several features associated with CB microphones. Some are just for fun, but most have practical uses.

Power - Power, or pre-amplified, mic's are microphones that require a battery and amplify the audio before it gets to the radio. This is useful for those who speak softly, or may have a weaker signal.

Speaker - Speaker microphones are mic's with the speaker and microphone components in the handset. These types of microphones are typically used with radios ...

CB FAQ's

How far will my mobile CB radio transmit?

With a proper single antenna setup, a good rule of thumb is 1 mile per watt of output power. Most newer radios are a the maximum allowed 4 watts which gives you about 4 miles.

How far will my hand held CB radio transmit?

This depends on where you are at with the radio, and what antenna you are using for it. If you are outside, you will get about 2 to 3 miles. If you attempt to use a hand held in a vehicle, home, or other enclosure without ...

All for one....

CB radio antennas, mounts, and cables are really three separate components, each with their own set of obstacles. The three are often grouped together in kits or one-piece apparatuses, so we're going to tackle them all at the same time. Really, this is the best way to go about it, since most compatibility issues that come up will be between these components.

Pick a good antenna

The most important component to any CB setup is the antenna. If you're going to save money on ...

At first, users were required to obtain a CB Radio license and call letters from the FCC to operate a CB Radio. However, the FCC was so inundated with requests for CB Radio licenses that they finally abandoned formal licensing and allowed operators to buy CB Radio equipment and go on the air without any license or call letters.

Although no license is required to operate a CB Radio, FCC Laws Part 95, Subpart D, which contains the FCC's rules for CB Radio operation, ...

You’ve got a CB radio and now you need an antenna. The antenna is the most important part of any radio system. Even the best radios can’t make up for a poor antenna. A cheap radio and a good antenna will get your signal out and talk better than an expensive radio with a poor antenna. With that said, get the best antenna you can for your application. This document is presented for those new to the CB hobby and is not a step-by-step guide to mounting an antenna—there are just too many ways to mount ...
